Theodor Seuss Geisel
Was an American writer, poet and cartoonist,
more well known for his childrens books
written under his pen names Theo LeSieg or Dr Seuss.
Dr Seuss has had 46 of his books published, which are full of his
imaginative characters and his crazy rhymes.
Dr Seuss believed that children wernt interested in the standard
Dick and Jane books, he personally found them boring.
So he created "The Cat in the Hat"
He nearly burned his first book, And to think I saw it on Mulberry street,
after it was turned down by 27 different publishers.
A musical made about his books,
it was well named The Seussical.
His book "If I Ran the Zoo" which was published in the 50s
is the first recorded instance of the word "Nerd"
Dr Seuss had a fear of kids, he was always scared of what they might do or ask next,
he could never just sit and play with a child.
His book, Green Eggs and Ham, was the result of a
bet with his editor Bennett Cerf that he could not write a whole book using only 50 words,
it turned out t be one of his most successful.
There has been rumours that he was a drug dealer in the 60s around LA. He made up whimsical pitches and rhymes on the spot to help push his drugs.
